The Bible – What is it all about?
The Bible is often called “The Word of God” for indeed it is. The words contained in the
Bible are God inspired. Just as a boss might dictate letters or reports for a secretary to type, so it is with the Bible. Men actually “penned” the words but God gave them.
The Bible is actually a collection of 66 books divided into two sections: The Old Testament and The New Testament. The Old Testament covers from the time of creation to about four hundred years before Christ’s birth and the New Testament starts with the birth of Jesus Christ and continues on for a number of years after His death, burial, resurrection and ascension into heaven. Contained within the pages of the Bible are historical accounts, poetry, stories, biographies and prophecies.
The Bible is the key to our faith in God for it tells us about Him, carries His commandments and instructions for us, instructs us how to obtain forgiveness and shows us how to live a life pleasing to Him.
As we are a Bible based church we want to help you to understand it and know how to use it. Just contact us, or better still, if you are in the area why not visit us this Sunday at 10.45 am!
